The Ombudsman did not uncover evidence that the Council for the Town of Mattawa held a secret meeting to discuss extending the Mayor's duties and increasing his pay for a limited period, a decision that was unanimously passed by Council at a June 24, 2013 public Council meeting.
The Ombudsman did not uncover evidence that the Council for the Town of Mattawa held a secret meeting to discuss extending the Mayor's duties and increasing his pay for a limited period, a decision that was unanimously passed by Council at a June 24, 2013 public council meeting. However, the Ombudsman cautioned Council about the fact that it does not keep substantive meeting records of Committee of the Whole meetings, including June 2013 budget meetings where Council stated it discussed the extension of the Mayor's role and remuneration.
