Municipality of West Nipissing

The Ombudsman received complaints alleging that council for the Municipality of West Nipissing contravened the Municipal Act’s open meeting requirements on May 12, 2021. The complaints alleged that council’s discussion about payment of legal fees did not fit within the cited exception to the open meeting rules. The Ombudsman’s review found that council’s discussion was permissible under the Municipal Act’s closed meeting exception for personal matters about an identifiable individual in s. 239(2)(b).
